Problem

I have a .zip file on my BrailleNote. It seems that BrailleNote does not have an unzip utility. How do I unzip this file?

Answer

Actually, there is somewhat of an unzipping utility: Bookshare Unpack Utility for KeyBook. Essentially, you need to rename the zip file's extension to .bks, open it using Book Reader and "unzip" it that way:

  1. On your BrailleNote, go to File Manager/Rename.
  2.

  3. At the drive prompt, choose the drive where you have the zip file. At the folder name, choose the folder that has the zip file inside. At the file name, choose the zip file itself.
  4.

  5. At the "new file name," type the name of the zip file, followed by a period, then "bks" (without quotes) then press ENTER.
  6. You've just renamed the file.

    To unzip the file itself:

  7. Go to Main Menu/Book Reader (B).
  8.

  9. At the "drive" prompt, select the drive where the .bks file resides. At the folder name, select the location where you've saved the file.
  10.

  11. At the book name, press SPACE until you see/hear the name of the "book" - the zip file. Press ENTER.
  12.

  13. Then a prompt, "password" should be displayed. Press ENTER to continue. You've just finished unzipping the file.
  14.

If the BrailleNote asks about the location where you want to save the "unpacked book," select the location where you've downloaded the original zip file.
