Question

I heard that it is possible to move to folders within folders like tree view. How do I do this?

Answer

At any "folder name" prompt, press SPACE to move to the list of folders. When you land on a folder that contians subfolders (folder within a folder), press SPACE with dots 5-6 (Right Arrow on QT) to "open" the folder. The prompt "List of folders" is displayed. To move back up to the parent folder, press SPACE with dots 2-3 (Left Arrow on QT). You should land at the folder where you've press SPACE with dots 5-6/Right Arrow.

There is a special mode called "Directory Mode" that allows a user to move from subfolder to subfolder. To activate this mode, at the "folder name" prompt, press SPACE with T (CTRl+T on QT). BrailleNote says, "Directory Name?" At this prompt, press SPACE to move to the list of folders. Press ENTER. The directory prompt will be displayed again. Press SPACE to move to the next layer of folders. Press ENTER on a desired subfolder. The Directory prompt is displayed again. If you selected the correct directory, press ENTER. To exit out of a subfolder, at the "directory name" prompt, press SPACE with dots 2-3 (Left Arrow on QT). BrailleNote says, "directory name" and displays the name of the parent folder of the subfolder. To switch to the "normal/folder mode," press SPACE with T (CTRL+T on QT).

NOTES:

  • The root folder (the top level folder of the storage device) can be accessed by typing "none" at the "folder name" prompt or pressing slash (dots 3-4) at the "directory name" prompt.
  • In the Directory Mode, the subfolder and parent folder is distinguished by a forward slash (dots 3-4) character. This practice originated from the old DOS (Disk Operating System) days where subfolders within folders was marked with slash character. So, for example, if we have a folder called "demo" underneath General under Flash Disk, the path would look like Flash Disk/general/demo.
